I read about her in China's leading newspaper ......a young girl named Zhao Bin whose former boyfriend threw gasoline on her--- then lit a match. Chinese authorities quickly arrested the rejected lover, shuffled him through a quick trial and conviction, then stood him in front of a Firing Squad.  His parents were ordered to pay for the bullets-- their son’s burial—and they immediately lost “face” among the Chinese.   Justice had been served and everyone was satisfied----everyone that is-- except Zhao Bin.  Where was her Justice?!?!?

It would takes pages and pages to “take you”-- the reader-- from the beginning-to-the-end of Zhao Bin’s amazing story.  I will do my best to limit the details and highlight the facts.  I believe that you—like me--- will be touched by the remarkable details that clearly-indicate God’s handiwork.

Zhao Bin, burned over 98% of her body, was being released from the Lanzhou Hospital after being a patient there for more than one year. Normally, someone so seriously-burned would die. Although her multiple burns and grafts were continuing to heal, they were permanently-tightening her skin and muscles, restricting her mobility. The scars from her multiple burns were limiting her ability to raise her arms more than a few inches; her ankles were locked-tight in one position and were completely rigid. All but two of Zhao Bin’s fingers were burned-off  in the fire while both ears and all of her toes were burned-beyond saving.

Most concerning, Zhao Bin had been sitting when her spiteful ex-boyfriend threw gasoline over her body.  The area between her legs suffered major damage and multiple reconstructive surgeries failed to return her body to normal. Zhao Bin was forced to wear a permanent catheter. Most of her burn scars healed but-- they scarred-shut the openings to both her vagina and anus.

After more than one year, the hospital explained they had done all they could for Zhao Bin and now--they needed her bed.  They told newspaper reporters they had no choice but discharge her.

Zhao Bin’s mother lived in a one-room apartment provided by her Department Store Employer and family members weren’t allowed.  Zhao Bin had no money and no place to go.  Her story was compelling. The voice inside me said "there is no one to help her-- only you."

I spent more than 16 hours on a crowded Chinese train—from Beijing to Lanzhou--- to meet her.  Due to my limited Chinese, one of my Chinese students volunteered to travel with me.  We met with Hospital Doctors, Government Authorities, Zhao Bin and her Mother, and—before catching the train back to Beijing…everyone was “onboard” with my plan.

Over a period of 3 months, I contacted countless people and organizations in America. Everyone seemed infatuated with Zhao Bin’s story, especially those with a medical background.  At last I found a Doctor in Buffalo, New York, a specialist in Reconstructive Surgery, who agreed to accept Zhao Bin as a patient-- for free.  Then, I connected with several church groups that agreed to pay for Zhao Bin’s roundtrip Airfare from China to America. Finally, I alerted the Media-- both in China and America--about Zhao Bin’s upcoming trip to America--and it was like the “parting of the Red Sea”.

I was inundated with requests for more photos, more details, and more descriptions of her ex-boyfriend.  Also, offers of money poured in for Zhao Bin—along with-- free hotel rooms, adoption, clothing, and gifts of all kinds--- from around the world. But—more important than money, hair wigs, free dental, even marriage--The Chinese Government agreed that,  after her multiple surgeries in America were completed, They wanted to help Zhao Bin return to China---where they would give her a furnished apartment, a computer designed to meet her specific handicaps, and---ongoing computer training by China's computer specialists. After her training, the government had a well-paying job waiting for her.

Back in America, I flew to Buffalo for the last of Zhao Bin’s four surgeries. I met with her medical team, the hospital staff, and all the many church members who’d volunteered as Zhao Bin’s family--her friends.  I was humbled at the outpouring of love I saw and felt--all around me.

It’s been several years since I corresponded with Zhao Bin but her last letter, typed by her on her home computer, told me all I needed to know.  She’s married now; she gave birth to a little boy----she's been promoted several times---and---she loves her job.  She’s the “breadwinner” of the family because of her special training. In somewhat of a shy way, Zhao Bin revealed she's now considered "a hero" among most Chinese. She confessed that she enjoys sharing the "details" of her success.

While Zhao Bin was in America, she received a Bible—written in Chinese—from her Church Family.  In her last letter, she told me she reads it daily and prays for all those who “remade” her body and saved her life.  I was touched to read that Zhao Bin prays for me, too.
