When I write about my many experiences and personal encounters, I almost-always reference the “Voice-Inside-Me”. Over time, I’ve grown more confident that the “Voice
Inside Me” is truly my Guardian Angel. We became closer-than-ever during my journey of China’s Great Wall...so close she put me “in touch” with other Angels----a few I’d known since grade school.
As the first woman to travel the length of The Great Wall of China--- I walked, climbed, and ran between 25-40 miles daily. At night, I pitched my tent on top of The Wall or beside it. Completely exhausted after each day's extreme exercise and activity, I never had trouble--sleeping.
Nothing could have prepared me for the life-like dreams that came to me…almost
every night. In truth, each “dream” was more like an intimate reunion with a long-ago friend. Every friend who visited me was someone who had died years earlier.
One by one, my friends from the past would “wake me” by entering my tent and saying my name. I recognized each person; everyone looked like they’d looked years earlier, long before their deaths. One by one,
my long-ago friends spoke to me-- commented on my adventure--then assured me that he or she would be traveling beside me—each step of the way. The next morning--I’d reflect on “the dream” and marvel at the incredible reality of it all.
I carefully described each dream in my journal, noting the voice-inside- me described each "visitor" as an Angel.
my first “Angel” was the one I remember best. I still remember the moment the tent-flap opened and there stood my fifth-grade boyfriend, Dwight Bishop (Here's Dwight in his high school graduation picture, 1956). As fifth grade classmates,
we never held hands or kissed but--between the two of us--we wrote and shared many love notes. Yes, on paper, we experienced a sweet and meaningful attraction. Although our young love lasted for only a few months….Dwight and
I remained close friends through Junior and Senior High School.
Over time, I learned Dwight married, had a successful career in sales, and was both loved and admired by all who knew
him. Then, without warning, I heard about Dwight’s sudden death in a horrific accident involving an electric hedge-trimmer. Not only did I mourn the loss of a dear, long-ago friend....my heart remembered him as my first love.
The night I “saw” Dwight, he looked as handsome, as ever. He had the same sweet smile when he talked about the accident that caused his death. He assured me he’d suffered no pain;
that he experienced a smooth transition from life to death. He described how he closed his eyes and woke up in a beautiful place, surrounded by love. Now, he spent every moment with other Angels…..sharing love…..and helping those
who die…to adjust to life as an Angel.
When I asked my long-ago boyfriend WHY he was traveling with me on my Great Wall Journey---he smiled and said “Because it’s God’s
Will. In fact, God made all the arrangements”.
Yes, I believe in God--in Life--in Death--and----in Angels. And...I absolutely believe every moment of my
Great Wall Journey was meant to be. There are no coincidences when God's "in charge".
PS. I’ll be sharing more of my personal encounters with Angels on the Great Wall… soon.
