I've "walked the walk" for a long-time-now and.... I still do.

When I was in my late sixties, I decided to switch from decades of running-- to walking/hiking---- but at a faster pace. I'm convinced... at this point....that fast walking and hiking on a regular basis-- is my best exercise for an over-all body workout.

Sure, I miss running and always will but, after a series of frightening incidents, I soon realized that running outside--the only way I love it--was unpredictable and--seriously-- unsafe.

So....I switched to fast walking which allows me to keep the same schedule, be outside, and stay " more-aware" of my surroundings.  Frankly, running with a concealed weapon (yes, it's always with me) is difficult and takes-away from the “fun of the run”.  I’m more “in control” now that I’m walking fast and hiking. It also helps that Cubby Dog--Big Dog is always with me.

It’s no “stroke of luck” or a“coincidence’ that my years of running-- and now walking-- are the reason for my healthiness.  I don't take medicine, haven't had a cold in years, and have never had the flu (no flu shots-ever). It's a fact that....all those years ago... I ended my migraine headaches forever...after beginning  a daily running schedule.

I'm not bragging...only sharing what works for me. Remember, I grew-up sickly--with horrible headaches, stomach viruses, nervous problems was only after I began running at 27 years of age- that I was able to throw-away the tranquilizers, pain meds, allergy injections, prescription drugs....and start living!

It’s never too late to start. In fact, the benefits are far-more dramatic for older walkers. The following statistics appear in a special issue of the British Journal of Sports Medicine, dedicated to WALKING AND HEALTH:

"Recent Medical Studies show that average-pace walkers--aged 60 years or over--experienced a 46% reduction in risk of death from cardiovascular causes while fast-pace walkers experienced a 53% risk reduction".

Please trust me. It is NEVER too-late to start a new life while—at the same time-- adding top quality to that "new" life.  I speak from experience.
