I'VE GOTTA BE ME....ABSOLUTELY.

IN 1970, I RECORDED AN ALBUM--"I'VE GOTTA BE ME"--ACCOMPANIED BY THE ART PORTER TRIO AND PAID FOR BY MY FATHER.

ONE EVENING, ART AND HIS GROUP JOINED ME AT A SMALL, HOMEMADE RECORDING STUDIO IN LITTLE ROCK, AR, WHERE WE TAPED A LIST OF SONGS. THOSE TAPED SONGS WERE LATER TRANSFERRED TO AN LP RECORD AND PLACED IN AN ALBUM COVER. IT WAS NOTHING FANCY BUT...IT MADE MY LOVING FATHER VERY HAPPY.

HE LOVED TO PLAY MY RECORD. HE LOVED HEARING ME SING SUCH SONGS AS "TIL THERE WAS YOU" or "ON A CLEAR DAY" AND "MY ROMANCE." OVER TIME, HE LEARNED TO APPRECIATE ONE OF MY FAVORITES, "THERE IS A SHIP"...A LONG-AGO FOLK SONG.

I CHOSE THE TITLE OF MY ALBUM BECAUSE, AT THE TIME...IT WAS WHO I WAS BECOMING; IT WAS WHO I WAS DETERMINED TO BE. PLEASE NOTE THAT MY MARRIED NAME WAS PERDUE. AFTER MY DIVORCE IN 1973, I KEPT MY MARRIED NAME UNTIL MY DAUGHTERS WERE GROWN. ONLY THEN--- DID I FEEL COMFORTABLE RETURNING TO MY MAIDEN NAME.....SALLY MILLER.

TODAY.."I'VE GOTTA BE ME"...REPRESENTS WHO I AM.

SALLY MILLER

Lol, I loved reading this story! As a female that dated a couple men with Harleys, I totally understand and met Harley Guy myself, many times over!
I hope you get your 3wheels someday soon!
