Today, walking on the Spillway Trail with Cubby Dog, I realized it had been several weeks since I'd made my daily Thankful List. I've been too focused on “settling” into my new
life and somehow, my priorities shifted but, starting now, I’m back-on-track.
God, I’m very thankful for tears. Tears are my release valve. They equalize
life’s pressure, which, too often, include sadness, joy, anger and, sometimes, frustration. Tears keep me “level”. Sometimes, when I’m feeling stressed, I visualize my grandmother's pressure cooker. When the cooker
reached the boiling point, the little valve on top would start releasing a steady stream of steam. The Steam kept the cooker from exploding and my tears work the same way. When the tears start….I know my pressure is being lessened so I
I’m also thankful for the smell of baby powder. All the perfumes in the world can't calm my senses like the subtle, sweet scent of Baby Powder. It smells peaceful
and clean....like a baby. We never get too old to appreciate the softness, the innocence, and the sweet smell of babies. It’s also a blessing to remember that we were all babies, once-upon-a-time.
Thank you, God, for the gift of hope. Every day-- I pray and hope for peace, love, security, and happiness. Not just for me but for All The World. I thrive on great expectations, on hoping that bad will evolve
into good. You are my Hope, God, my meaning for life. Without you….there would be no reason for life.
And, God, you must know that every day I’m thankful for my Angels.
Not just the ones with wings but the everyday angels--those without wings-- who guide and help me daily. Many of my Angels call or send me texts, emails, messages, cards and letters. Most...I've never met but....it doesn't
matter. It isn’t necessary to see those who deliver miracles. We must always be thankful for our Angels, regardless of their age, their size, their gender, or where they live.....and, yes.... I am very thankful.
And God…I want to thank you for your personal touch. You touch my heart every day, in endless ways. Because of your touch, I can face the bad AND appreciate the good.
Most of all Heavenly Father, thank you for never leaving me. Please help me see the good around me. Direct me to help others-- like others have helped-- and continue to help-- me.
